Stefan Obmann<\/strong>, born 1988 in St. Veit an der Glan (Carinthia), began his musical education at the age of five years at the Music School of Althofen.<\/p>

He studied at the Universit\u00e4t f\u00fcr Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien with Dietmar K\u00fcblb\u00f6ck (Wiener Philharmoniker) and Mark Gaal (Wiener Philharmoniker). In 2006 he won the Anton Bruckner Competition of the Wiener Symphoniker in the category \"Best Young Trombonist\". He is also a prizewinner of the competition Gradus ad Parnassum 2011.<\/p>

He played as a guest with renowned orchestras like the Wiener Philharmoniker,\nWiener Symphoniker, WDR Sinfonieorchester K\u00f6ln, Staatskapelle Berlin, Radio-\nSymphonieorchester Wien, Tonk\u00fcnstlerorchester Nieder\u00f6sterreich,\nMozarteumorchester Salzburg, and at the Oper Frankfurt, Volksoper Wien and\nWiener Staatsoper with conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Daniel Barenboim, \u00c1d\u00e1m Fischer, Riccardo Muti, Kirill Petrenko, Georges Pr\u00eatre and Christian\nThielemann and with ensembles such as phil Blech Wien and Federspiel.<\/p>

Stefan Obmann is also ensemble manager for the trombone quartet Trombone Attraction and the Vienna Brass Connection.<\/p>

In addition to various teaching activities, a lectureship at the Universit\u00e4t f\u00fcr Musik\nund darstellende Kunst Wien and numerous concerts with various ensembles such\nas Trombone Attraction, the Vienna Brass Connection and orchestras such as the\nVienna Chamber Orchestra, contemporary music is one of the main focuses of his\nartistic work. He regularly performs in projects with Klangforum Wien, Ensemble XXI. Jahrhundert, Ensemble Weiner Collage und dem Schallfeld Ensemble Graz and is a\nmember of the PHACE ensemble, one of the most successful and innovative\nensembles for new music.<\/p>

Stefan Obmann came to my class as a fourteen-year-old up-and-coming talent, and since then I have followed his musical development with great interest.
